Rural Mortgage Program
Bank of North Dakota’s (BND) Rural Mortgage Program helps lenders who originate residential real estate loans accommodate customers who are purchasing a home in a rural location not eligible for secondary market financing due to property appraisal irregularities. The BND Rural Mortgage Program is available to all North Dakota lenders for homes in North Dakota defined as rural by USDA Rural Development. The lender must enter into a mortgage loan purchase agreement to sell conventional mortgage loans to BND. Upon receipt of the fully executed agreement, the originating lender can sell conventional loans to BND for the Rural Mortgage Program.
Mortgage Origination Program for rural lenders
BND’s Mortgage Origination Program for rural lenders provides an option for rural lenders not equipped to originate a home loan. This program is available for homes in areas of North Dakota defined as rural by USDA Rural Development.
Applicant(s) must be referred to BND’s Mortgage Origination Program by a rural lender located in an area where private sector mortgage services are not reasonably available. BND can originate FHA, USDA or conventional financing and will help the applicant determine his/her options. The referring lender may assist BND by taking the loan application, collecting the required documentation and acting as the main contact for the borrower(s).
